Japan does not produce rock salt, so salt roads were developed to transport salt inland. Asuke Village is located on a salt road and retains many traces of its old village appearance. At Sanshu Asuke Yashiki, a relocated village buildings, you can learn about life in the old days. The Arts and Crafts Movement in 19th century Britain developed in close relation to Japanese folk crafts. Folk Crafts Museum in Toyota City collects folk crafts influenced by this movement and offers a special exhibition.

In this program, we will visit the Folk Crafts Museum to appreciate its distinctive pottery, and then visit a village on a Salt Road.
