Explore Japan: 1,000 Years of Pottery Production at Tokoname – One of the Six Oldest Kiln Areas of Japan (Archive)

The Chube Airport is located in Tokoname City. Tokoname is known as one of six oldest kilns of Japan. The area produced variety of potteries over 1,000 years. The area continues its operation, including the production of the most sophisticated toiletries. We will visit the INAX Museums and learn the pottery history. We will walk through old kilns and visit pottery factories. The museum curator will talk about the pottery history and the museum.

We will welcome international graduate students in the greater Nagoya area.

Destination: The INAX Museiums and the pottery area in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture

Meeting place & Time: 9:20 a.m. Parking Lot, Toyoda Auditorium, Nagoya University

Departure 9:30 a.m. sharp The bus departs for the destination. This event will end at the parking lot in front of the Toyoda Auditorium around 5:00 p.m.
