Explore Japan: Rock Crystal and Fossil Hunting – Gifu Prefecture from a Geological Perspective (Archive)

Looking at Japan from a geological perspective allows us to understand current earthquakes and volcanic activity. Geology also provides insight into the background of Japanese society and culture. In this event, we will visit the Nakatsugawa Mineral Museum to see beautiful mineral collections and to learn about mineral resources of the Tokai region. Then, we will participate in the museum’s Stone Hunting experience to search for crystals.

At the Mizunami Fossil Museum, we will learn about the geologic history of the Tokai region. We will experience fossil hunting as well.


In this program, we will visit Nakatsugawa Mineral Museum to appreciate its collection and do crystal hunting.

Date & Time: May 24 (Saturday), 2025. 9:30 a.m. ~ 5:00 p.m.

We will welcome international graduate students and their families in the greater Nagoya area.

Destination: Toyota City and Asuke Town, Aichi prefecture.

Meeting place & Time: Parking lot area, Toyoda Auditorium, Nagoya University 9:15 a.m. The bus departs the campus at 9:30 a.m. sharp.
