Explore Japan: Japan’s Energy Facilities Part I – Visit to the Head Office of Toho Gas Co., Ltd. (Archive)

Toho Gas is the leading gas utility company in the Tokai area. We will visit its head office to learn about Japan’s energy policy focusing on the gas business. Then, we see the energy facilities of the company at the head office.

Japan is a big importer of energy resources. The people of the Nagoya area enjoy easy access to electricity and gas. Given the frequent earthquake incidents in Japan, town gas systems must meet the requirements standards for safe delivery and use. Energy experts of the company will talk about Japan’s energy policy and future goals. They will also explain how they design and maintain their town gas systems, where the company imports LNG from, and how the company’s supply management system works. Participants will talk about the future of energy use with the experts.

Toho Gas experts include Mr.Yoshimitsu SHIBATA (Representative Managing Director), Ms. Aki FUKUYAMA (Manager, Pipeline Department, Pipeline Construction Center), and Mr. Kota MIYOSHI (Chief, Corporate Planning Department, Institutional Planning Group). 

By a kind arrangement of Toho Gas Company, we will walk through the facilities at the head office with the company experts to learn more about the business and its facilities.

We will welcome international graduate students in the greater Nagoya area.

Destination: Head Office, Toho Gas Co., Ltd. at Atsuta Ward, Nagoya

Meeting place & Time: 12:20 p.m. Ticket Gate Area (underground), Nagoya University subway station

Departure 12:30 p.m. sharp We will take a subway to Kanayama station and then walk to the Head Office of Toho Gas Company. This event will end at Kanayama station around 4:30 p.m.
