Explore Japan: Visiting Seki City, a well-known cutlery town, and playing with snow in the nearby mountain (Archive)

Observe how a Japanese sword is made by sword-smiths, learn the history of the town, and play with real snow!!

Seki City, like Sheffield in England, is famous for its cutlery. Japanese swords are also made there. Japanese swords are made by a unique method in which sword-smiths bend and hammer the steel many times. In this “Explore Japan” event, you will visit the forging site and learn about Japanese swords from sword-smiths (Mr. Fujuwara). You will also learn about the history of the town of cutlery. Afterwards, we will go to the nearby snowy mountains to experience playing in the snow.
