The Emergency and Disaster Medical Center (tentative name) at Nagoya City University Hospital is currently under construction. This tour offers a rare opportunity to visit the site and gain insight into the development of a major public medical facility, while learning about Japan’s construction management practices and key characteristics of a next-generation emergency care center.

In the Nagoya area, there is a strong awareness of the need for emergency medical services. The increasing number of emergency transports within the city as a result of the aging population, as well as the need for disaster medical activities in the event of disasters such as a potential Nankai Trough earthquake are major concerns. This center is a facility aimed at providing emergency transportation, disaster medical care, and training emergency medicine specialists, who are currently in short supply.
Experts from a major construction company (Shimizu Corporation) will explain the mechanisms of ordering and accepting orders for public facility construction projects, as well as quality control, safety management, schedule management, and waste disposal. You will also be guided through part of the building to observe construction technologies and safety practices currently in use.
