Explore Japan: Inuyama Castle and Higashi no Miya Tumulus (Archive)

We will visit Higashi no Miya Kofun and Inuyama Castle (National Treasure). This Kofun is an ancient tomb approximately 72 meters long located at the summit of Hakusan Hirayama (elevation 143 meters). While keyhole-shaped tumulus is a well-known form, this one is different and among the oldest tumuli in Aichi Prefecture. It was built between the late 3rd and early 4th centuries) and yielded numerous burial goods. We will hear an expert explanation about this tomb, and then visit Inuyama Castle to understand its strategic importance in the region. Let us experience Japanese autumn and culture.

We will welcome international graduate students and their family.

Destination: Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture.

Meeting Place & Time: Parking lot near Toyoda Auditorium, Higashiyama Campus, Nagoya University 9:15 a.m. The bus will leave the campus at 9:30 a.m. sharp.
