Explore Japan: Seto – A Pottery-Making Region for 1,000 Years (Archive)

A traditional industry in the Aichi Region

The pottery we use daily is often called “Seto Mono” (Seto ware). “Seto Mono” means pottery made in Seto. Seto City is a town adjacent to Nagoya. At this event, we will visit the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum where fine ceramics are displayed. An expert will explain the exhibits. Afterwards, we will learn about the history of Seto ware at the Seto Kura Museum and stroll through the town of Seto.

We will accept 20 participants.

Date & Time: January 24 (Saturday), 2026. 9:30 a.m. -17:00 p.m.

We will welcome international graduate students and their family in the greater Nagoya area.

Destination: Seto City, Aichi Prefecture

Meeting place & Time: Parking area in front of Toyoda Auditorium, Nagoya University at 9:15 a.m. Our bus will leave the campus at 9:30 a.m.
